International Burns night Kiev: Reel Time Band

By |2017-03-01T11:12:15+00:00April 5th, 2012|events|0 Comments

It was a pleasure to take the Reel Time Band over to Kiev at the end of March, for our last Burns night of 2012. After playing Stirling and Edinburgh Castles in January, it was great to have a full castle constructed as the stage. Burns night in Kiev is like no other you have seen. Organised by The Lions Club with a mix of Scottish music and Ukrainian pop stars, at a glitzy society event. Raising money for charity is the main idea, with auctions and raffles raising more than $120000 [...]

March 2012: We were approached by an international media group to provide cocktail production at Scotlands most famous Landmark, Edinburgh Castle.  The company were relaunching their brand and asked us to design and serve cocktails that fitted with their brands new colour scheme. ‘We understand that guests at these events want not only great tasting cocktails, but an element of theatre whilst their drinks are prepared’ said Mark Gilligan, Bar Manager.  ‘We staffed this with 4 of Edinburgh’s leading bar tenders who were creating the cocktails from our bespoke mobile bar units.’ [...]

The band is looking to give guests a unique contemporary funky twist on Scottish ceilidh music.  We have found that guests enjoy dancing to our style which may inject a disco riff, or a funk hook along with our Scottish sound. Reel Time had a wonderful night at Kelvingrove on Tuesday, entertaining the VIP guests of Visit Scotland. We had a bagpiper welcoming the guests to the fantastic Glasgow venue.  Roddy Deans was compering the event and addressed the haggis, while the Reel Time Ceilidh Band was on hand to give its funky brand of ceilidh music for guests to let their hair down.  Later in the evening, the great Rodolpho performed some Aerial hoop, and silk performances. Was great to meet all the MICE buyers and Scottish suppliers, who came together to [...]

Bagpipes, Pink Kilts, Elizabeth Hurley and Breast Cancer Awareness

By |2017-03-01T11:21:41+00:00October 6th, 2011|events|0 Comments

Had a great job yesterday piping Elizabeth Hurley in for one of her 4 international appearances to help with Breast Cancer Awareness.   She signed special Estee Lauder products which were helping raise money for the charity.  Later that day her and new fiancée Shane Warne switched on the Pink Floodights, to light up the Edinburgh skyline. House of Fraser did a great job of hosting the Breast Cancer awareness Public appearance; at Jenners in Edinburgh. Howie @ 21 Century Kilts designed me a wonderful pink Harris Tweed kilt.  With some chunky [...]

It is great to be involved in culture and the Arts, so it was a pleasure to be asked to help out with Jungle city. You can find out more about the project through their website.  Basically famous artists made wonderful jungle creatures, which were then installed around Edinburgh for a month.  At the end of the month, a charity auction was held, so people could buy the art, and help raise money for charity (£800000 to date). A great event to be involved with, we were supplying the Bagpiper. If you [...]

A busy July for Reel Time Bars

By |2017-03-01T11:22:50+00:00August 5th, 2011|bars|0 Comments

It was a pretty inconsistent July for the weather but one thing that was a guarantee was a great month for weddings! Reel Time Bars were all over Scotland from Loch Lomond to Aberdeen and back to Edinburgh! At the beginning of July we headed up to Boturich Castle to set up a bar in their purpose built marquee. There were cocktails flowing all evening with the ladies drinking Cosmos and the gentry on Mojitos. It was a beautiful day and we even had a moment to take in the breathtaking view across Loch Lomond. When you [...]
